Welcome to my Substack
Quick reads, cozy stories, and good spaces
I’m launching this Substack near the launch of my latest novel (Kohelette—check her out) because after a project that big, I’m craving a chance to write in shorter, less formal modes. Joining Substack lets me show up in a place where good conversations are happening, and it also gives me that place to write informally, reflecting on my fiction and essays as well as sharing more generally about my creative life and work.
A writer
I’m a writer. I’m a coffee lover, cat owner, clergy person, database wrangler (or so a workplace supervisor once said), and quite a few other things, too. I’m also a person who believes in the power that human beings have to help one another thrive. In all the thinking, writing, and sharing I do here, that’s the kind of space I hope to create—a corner of the world that honors people as precious and worthy of thriving. Some might call my writing “cozy,” but I’d also call it “hopeful.” I try to write about the good that I see around me and the good that I hope is still possible in this world. (And in fictional worlds, too, of course.)
On Saturdays mainly
I’ll be sharing brief general posts one Saturday each month. I’ll also be sharing occasional bursts of serial fiction. I’ll also be publishing occasional bursts of serial fiction here on the “Serial Fiction” tab. Free subscribers will have access to all the general posts as well as (when they opt in via their account page) to some serial fiction.
And good vibes always
Join me! Let’s spend some time together in a good kind of space. And though I’m the one posting, please comment and reach out along the way. I look forward to hearing from you.
